The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion with approximately 70 million members in 163 countries. We are a community of Christians united by our belief in Sacred Scripture that contains the very essence of the Christian faith. Through ancient stories, as well as modern ones, they are stories that connect us with Jesus and his teachings.

From it’s founding in 1923, St. Paul’s has been a faithful foundation to the community of Southeast Houston. What began as a small group meeting in the local neighborhood school at Park Place Elementary has steadily blossomed and grown over 95 years. From the beginning, the vision has always been to build community and connections in the surrounding neighborhoods and be a place to come together to worship and serve our community. In 1993, its first Spanish service was added to the already existing English service.

It has grown from a few faithful families in the early days to about 200 people now...and still growing! In 1923, when the church was first built, those faithful families processed from the local elementary school to the grounds of St. Paul’s. Once they arrived, they found the cement by the alter still wet so the story goes that they spontaneously kicked off their shoes with the then missionary priest and made their footprints on the same cement that exists today. Today we still stand upon and receive communion on those first footprints that came before us 95 years ago! One child of those first founding families is still a member of St. Paul’s and is still very active in the church today. She was just a 3-year old when she made her footprint by the alter and continues to pass on her special and wonderful stores about our community.

Our story continues to evolve and grow and we invite you to come be a part of our story and community!
